November 2010 Election
Ridiculous Rhetoric from
courtesy L•E•E 10 October 2010: On “Fox News Sunday,” Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) charged that Republicans don’t say what they are going to do when they take over, while her wonderful party “saved or created” 3 million jobs. Saved jobs — where have I heard that? Of course, the bigger fallacy is that government can create jobs. Meanwhile, the woman with three names claimed Democrats are running on their records. Seems more like they are running from their records. Eric Cantor (R-VA) admitted that Republicans had screwed up when they were in power, overspending and ignoring the public, vowing to do better this time. Believe him? Wasserman Schultz got on a subject
Democrats love to demagogue: Social Security. She said the
Republicans want to privatise it, which wouldn’t be a bad
idea, in my humble opinion. As moderator Bret Baier noted,
it is just a portion and would only affect younger people.
But when it comes to entitlement programmes, Democrats
don’t let inconvenient facts interfere with their talking
points. DWS is also concerned about foreclosures, which she blames on Republican policies. Democratic refusal to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac probably had nothing to do with the housing crisis. In her state (Florida, not confusion), DWS said the foreclosure situation has been “extremely vexing.” The foreclosure discussion has expanded, reminding us that those paying their mortgages are “vexed” that others are not, but retaining their dwellings. How many renters have been evicted during the current economic slump? Republicans and Democrats could care less. It’s the same party. When you have failed, it’s a good
strategy to attack. Debbie says it is “disgusting that the
Republicans held the middle class hostage” over extending
the Bush tax reductions. The Democrats offered no bill for
a vote, so it’s disingenuous blaming their supposed
opponents. This must be another hypothetical, like "jobs
saved," where we are to believe a Republican minority
would have prevented the possible proposal from passing. [note: Seems "saved" jobs has been
dropped from the discussion, after no one bought it. -
